For guests

You’ve been sent a KeydIn link. Here’s what it is.

Your host uses KeydIn to check guests in before they arrive. It replaces the ID and card you would show at a hotel desk, and it takes about three minutes on your phone.

Checked securely by Stripe. Photos deleted after your stay.

Details under “Is my ID safe?” below.

What you’ll do

Four steps, and the fourth is your door code.

  1. 1

    Verify your ID

    About a minute

Photograph your passport, driving licence or ID card, then take a selfie. Saved a KeydIn profile before? Sign in with a code instead.

  2. 2

    Sign the house rules

    Two minutes

Read the short agreement for your stay and type your name. A copy is emailed to you.

  3. 3

    Pay the deposit or waiver

    Thirty seconds

Pay a refundable deposit or a small one-off waiver. The page tells you which.

  4. 4

    Get your check-in details

    Straight away

How to get in, with the codes and photos you need, on the same page. Reopen the link any time during your stay.

Why your host asks

A flat has one owner, not a reception desk.

Nearly every guest is exactly who they say they are. Checking before arrival is how your host can treat you that way from the start, hand over keys to someone they have never met, and have the flat covered on the rare day something goes wrong.

Before you start

Have your ID to hand and find good light.

Nothing to install and no account to create. The link remembers where you got to. Your passport, driving licence or ID card and a well-lit spot for the selfie are the whole preparation.

Questions

Straight answers.

Did I book through KeydIn?
No. You booked where you booked. KeydIn is what your host uses after the booking to check guests in before they arrive.
Can I start from this page?
No. Everything happens through the personal link your host sent you. This page only explains what the link will ask.
Is my ID safe?
Stripe Identity runs the check. Your host can view your ID photo and selfie until 24 hours after check-out, so they know who is arriving; then the photos are deleted automatically and every view is logged. Your host keeps your name, date of birth, nationality, document type and its last four digits, deleted 12 months after your stay. You consent before the camera opens and can withdraw by email at any time.
Deposit or waiver?
The page tells you which applies and the amount before you pay. A deposit is a hold on your card, not a charge, released after check-out. A waiver is a one-off fee that covers accidental damage.
What if I am accused of damage I did not cause?
You are emailed the claim the moment it is opened: the amount, the reason and how much evidence was attached, with a reply address. Nothing can exceed the deposit or the waiver’s claim limit in total, both shown before you agree.
Does KeydIn decide whether I can stay?
No. KeydIn checks that your ID matches your face and your booking. It does not score you or keep a list. If something does not match, your host gets in touch.
Do I need an app or an account?
No. The link opens in your phone’s browser. Close it, come back later, and you are where you left off. There is no password.
Can I skip the ID check next time?
Yes. Once a check has passed, you can keep it as a KeydIn profile under your email. Next time, with any host that uses KeydIn, sign in with a one-time code and skip the selfie. You can delete the profile from any check-in page. A fresh check is needed if your document has expired, the check is more than 12 months old, the name differs from the booking, or your host asks for a live selfie.
The check failed, or my link does not work
Only the newest link for your booking works. If verification fails you get three attempts; glare on the document or a dim room are the usual causes. Still stuck? Email stays@venmanagement.example and a person will sort it out.

Got your link?

Open it on your phone and you are three steps from the keys. If it has expired, ask your host to resend it, or email us.
